Savior 1.2730 Ikol Avenue turned out to be a small, one-story house that looked as if it had come straight out of a children's book. It was a perfect pale blue, with red and white checked curtains in the windows and a beautiful iron knocker in the shape of a lion on the door.  Never mind the spattering of blood on the doorstep or the weeds choking the lawn.  
Trick hesitated outside the gate, his fingers tight on the butt of his gun. He was even paler than normal, his throat dry.  
"Come on, Mister I-Hate-Blood-But-Still-Became-An-Agent," Raja urged, rolling her eyes. "If there's this much on the steps, someone has to be bleeding in Savior 1.2

Trick groaned as he shut the spell book with a solid thump. It was a tattered old thing, previously lost in the depths of the Agency library and probably all but forgotten about. Most of the he'd been looking through were like that.

Savior: Prologue"What's the mission statement of the Agency?" Araeli 'Trick' Mathis asked without looking up from his textbook.  
Kelaen bit his lip and studied his reflection in the little mirror on the wall. "Do you have to quiz me now? I've got a date in ten minutes, Trick."  
"Then answer the question. I'm not going to let you fail Amovan Government again. We can't afford it." He sighed and jotted down something in the notebook beside his book. "And you've got a test tomorrow, don't you?"  
Kelaen frowned and tugged at a tangle in his long, black hair. "I wish you'd stop hanging out with my teachers."

So I took in the first chapter of Savior to my creative writing workshop on Tuesday. I got some good criticism and I can totally see where a good portion of them were coming from. But, even so, I feel like I've lost a lot of confidence in the piece as a whole. Yes, they did only look at twelve pages, but I was so nervous about it to begin with that things just got really bad really quickly. Four years I've been working on this. Give or take. And it's shot down in one two-hour period. I'm not giving up, I promise. I've worked too hard on it for that. But I have to wonder if I can just edit the current incarnation of if I'm going to have to write draft three. I promised my dad I would have the manuscript done by Christmas so we could start the editing and getting things together for publication, but this workshop really threw a kink in that. I don't know if I'm comfortable enough just tagging on a prologue and finishing this version. And the prologue I wrote doesn't really fit with the current incarnation of the novel. Ugh. I just lost all confidence about this story. Well, not the story, but the current way said story is being told. The story of Trick Mathis (who suddenly decided tonight that his given name is Araeli and he only legally changed it to Trick after Kel's death) and Suoh Hatichiin (who really shouldn't have a last name, since he's been living on the streets his whole life) will be told one way or another.

And in the middle of this is NaNoWriMo. Which I'm 3,000 words behind in right now. Yay. This workshop just kind of killed any desire I have to write right now. Which is not good at all. Damn.
